Granada, Spain. - Monday October 20, 2014

We were on our way to Granada by about 10 AM.  The GPS had a mind of its own and did not want to take us to Granada on the small winding road across the mountains that I found on the map. We had to choose small town destinations along the mountain route to go the way I wanted. The route I choose had unbelievable views as we slowly made our way across the mountains toward Granada.  Most of the way we wound around very narrow mountain roads in 3rd gear. The views were worth the time and effort as we made our up, around and then down the mountains. Unfortunately there were not a lot if places to pull over to the side and take photos. Eventually we crossed the mountains and arrived in Granada by about 1:30 PM. We checked into the hotel and were off to explore parts of the city & check out the surroundings of the Alhambra. We have tickets to go inside and see the inside of the Alhambra tomorrow. After leaving the grounds of the Alhambra we walked a bit more in the old part of Granada and stopped to browse in many shops.  Many of the shops were selling goods from Northern Africa, and at times we felt like we were walking around in Morocco.  On our way back to the hotel we stopped for some drinks and baklava.  After resting at the hotel a bit we were off for dinner in our section of Granada known as the "Albayzin", that maintains many of the winding streets of its Medieval Moorish past.
